The upcoming Onwards Festival in Huddersfield town centre promises to be an exciting event, with a wide range of musical performances and artistic installations taking place across multiple venues over the weekend.

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September 2023 will both feature a range of creative acts for music-lovers to enjoy, with Sunday focusing on a unique commisioned performance by the talented singer Thabo and the Huddersfield Ukrainian Singing Troupe. The pair will explore what would happen if an African tribe and a European one had met ages ago, and will bring centuries-old Ukrainian folk songs and stories from Southern Africa to life. Having been raised on a diverse range of musical influences, including Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton, Thabo developed his songwriting abilities and showmanship whilst part of the hip hop soul band Extra Curricular, and has since released three solo EPs and collaborated with the likes of Idris Elba and Naughty Boy.
