The song was written about long-term friendship and love and was inspired after Nancy attended a virtual reunion with her former teenage Opryland cast mates who she had performed with for two years in Nashville, Hawaii and Las Vegas. Using the reunion to reflect, Nancy wanted to capture the magic of despite decades between their last visit, it was as though no time had passed chronologically and time spent with these friends was ageless.
With a history of sharing the stage singing and acting in their younger years, these friendships are connected on a level of understanding and life experience. The new single ‘Friends for a Day and Age’ began to represent not just those personal friendships but all friendships in different ages of one’s life and passage of time and is a deeply personal song to Nancy.
