In Signs mix genres in no-holds-barred rock anthem 'Knock Knock'

Hailing from Kyiv, Ukrainian trio In Signs are leading the pack in the European rock scene.

‘Knock Knock’ is the latest arrow to In Signs’ bow of slow building, pop-rock crescendos. Like their top hit on Spotify ‘Blood For Blood’, the band’s new single has progressively dark undertones that carries a constant sense of growing unease, before front man and lead singer Arsen breaks into a crescendo of a hoarse, emotional chorus that has become the signature of the Eastern European outfit.

The immense, stop-start addition of drums in ‘Knock Knock’, combined with Arsen’s aggressive vocals, situate the track closer toward the metal genre. However, the verses in-between bring light instrumental bass punches which, underneath the higher pitched backing vocals, claw the song back towards pop-rock. Throw in an unpredictable use of distorted reverb and ‘Knock Knock’ is suddenly graced with a bright flash of EDM, proving that In Signs are coherent in a multitude of genres, while they’ve also managed to fashion their own unique style by bringing different elements from across the music spectrum together, that wouldn’t normally work.
