Bringing a very theatrical take on music, Johann Sebastian Punk’s new single ‘Confessions’ is drony, repetitive and just plain weird.
It’s an abstract combination of sounds that somehow work in a way they shouldn’t. With absolutely no doubt on his sense of identity and self the song is a reflection of the persona he wants to create for himself in the industry. The video is filmed in black and white with shaky outlines of him appearing here, there and everywhere forcing us to see the streets he walks down from his point of view.
Very much vocal led, the song relies on the basic guitar chords to create his mundane view of life before picking up just before the end, introducing glimpses of colour which hopefully will be continued on the album ‘Phoney Music Entertainment’ set to be released on the 13/10/17.
