Pink Milk are a Swedish band set to release their debut album “Purple” next month and after listening to it early, its secured itself into our top five of the year.
Previously described as having a sound that is like walking through the streets of Stockholm alone at night, their music is one continuous loop of hurt, grievance and desperation, powerful enough to connect with the inner workings of your conscience.
The album takes us on a journey of obscurity with only a small promise of hope at the end, which is found from the final track – a cover of a well known classic produced in a way that makes it feel like you’re hearing it for the first time. The chilling vocals laying over the top are difficult to make out but reach the desired impact with their echoey, church-like promise. With the gentle fading of the final song ending almost too abruptly it launches us back into the here and now with a hunger for more.
Kill 4 U, which appears on the album, is the first single to be released and is a perfect example of the climax of the record, have yourself a listen here:
