Scottish-Swedish musician Christopher Caird Dominique is set to release his latest album, ‘Jazz in Scots,’ on September 15th, 2023. This highly anticipated album pays tribute to Dominique’s great grandfather, George Caird, a renowned violinist who served in the BBC Variety Orchestra from 1945 to 1963.
With this new album, Dominique hopes to reconnect with his Scottish roots and honor the legacy of his musical family. ‘Jazz in Scots’ takes inspiration from historic recordings made in Glasgow in 1945, where George Caird’s mesmerizing violin performances left an indelible mark. With the help of talented musicians Filip Runesson on violin and Johnny Åhman on double bass, Dominique has meticulously crafted new arrangements of these timeless songs.
The result is a fusion of jazz and traditional Scottish elements, creating a truly unique and captivating listening experience. Adding to the excitement of this album are guest appearances by harmonica virtuoso Ola Salo and Glaswegian tenor saxophone player Matt Carmichael. The album was recorded at Hurfva Gramophones studios in Sweden and was mixed by world-famous producer Per Sunding at Tambourine Studios in Malmö, Sweden. Mastering was done by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios in London.
