Hey loyal fans of Slaves to the Rhythm. I hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday afternoon and to give you the boost to get through the rest of the week I have a review of the brilliant new album Voices from the Sun by ska sensations The Dualers.
Voices from the Sun is filled with addictive funk bass grooves and feel good vibes proving that we are back in their world and it feels good.
It boasts solid funky rhythms across all songs, most particularly within their belter tunes; ‘Yippie I Ay’ and ‘The Closer You Get ’. The charm of this album is not just within the soul of the vocals, but in its appropriateness for all occasions: be it Sunday morning whilst making your pancakes to listen to your Motivational Monday tracks.
The final track, Red Light, slips into a ska shuffle supported by a rumbling reggae bass line. The surprising harmonic descent to the chorus, punctuated by a brass stab and definitely ends the album on a high note.
So if you’re looking for an album to lift your spirits and get you in the mood for summer then look no further. Voices from the Sun by The Dualers is out on 12/08 be sure to keep an eye out for it as it’s really not one to be missed!
